2007 WF Ingenuity Workroom Competition Top Treatments Second Place Sylvia A. Wasson, WFCP Associate Sylvia's Custom Draperies, Orchard Lake, MI In a recently expanded dining room which included new windows, Sylvia Wasson designed this entirely new window treatment utilizing fabric from the previous design. With three triplearched windows in place, Wasson's client wanted a treatment that would be "the crowning touch" on the beautiful room, without covering the view. The focal point of the entire treatment, the cornice, was built with arched cut outs and garnished with decorative cording. Microcorded and cut into bands, the chenille was woven across the top of the cornice, creating a harlequin pattern from the fabric's nap. Upholstery nailheads were then applied just under the top row of cording to add the jeweled touch associated with a crown. The existing fabric was used for additional drama. Wasson said her client related that "at a dinner party she hosted shortly after the installation of the treatment, it was necessary for her to postpone serving dinner 45 minutes while her guests admired her new treatment."
